There are so many ways to lose your commission but it is possible to make money with affiliate marketing. The best thing is to do your research on who you are doing business with. There are some good and some bad... With a little knowledge you can do well.

I don't know if there exist such a software, and I believe that's considered to be spamming. If I don't know the answer that doesn't mean others don't. There is a website called Black Hat World. It's actually a forum where you will probably find that kind of software, although maybe not for free.

There are numerous websites on the Internet that offers affiliate marketing courses and are usually renamed "Home Business" or "Work from home opprotunites" but never the less it is still good old fashioned affiliate marketing. When I got into the whole affiliiate marketing world there were so many courses for sale. I actually bought more than I care to admit but they all had one thing in common, it was the same old "how to's" just packaged with different covers. Affiliate marketing has been around for a long time. But there is a new way of learning this game now. With the invention of screen sharing, that is where usually an IT guy can log onto your computer and see what is wrong with it and fix it for you. The affiliate marketing gang has joined those ranks. Affiliatesitebuilder.net and so far the only one that offers affiliate market training right from your own computer. They can log onto your computer and take you by the hand and not only explain in real time but actually show you how to start affiliate marketing from A to Z.

Even though screen sharing has been around a couple of years
( gotomycomputer.com) and (gotomeeting.com) are the true pioneers. They have started a new version called gotoassist.com and that is the program Affiliatesitebuilder.net is using. It is 100% safe and secure. You sign onto a support site and then you are invited to a LIVE web session. The folks at Affiliate Site Builder take over from there.

A few of my friends have tried it just to see what it was all about. They told me I needed to check it out myself as I am an Affiliate of many products. I was actually inpressed. I acted as though I had no idea what I was doing and they explained everything very professinally and didn't make me feel like an idiot. They even showed me how to create a website that was just for promoting products.

So if you are new to affiliate marketing and have no idea where to start, affiliate site builder is the first place you shoul start. It is a whole lot easier somebody showing you how to use affiliate marketing rather than trying to figure it on your own.

Oh and yes...I wish I had thought of this first.

www.affiliatesitebuilder.net is the website if you want to learn more. By the way, they even offer a phone number with a live person to talk to. Now there is a twist.

You can do it for free no problem but it will require a little time on your part.

First you need to get two books from the library:

Designing with Web Standards http://www.zeldman.com/dwws/

Don't make me think http://www.sensible.com/buythebook.html

Reading and understanding these two books alone will put you ahead of 99.9% of webdesigners.

Then you need to read a free, reliable and up to date SEO tutorial. There are only two of these on the web that are considered worth reading.

That's it! Read, learn and implement.

Comment on How important is it to put a BLOG on the top level of a DOMAIN in terms of Search Engine Optimization? by Metapilot

I'm guessing that you are asking whether your blog should be installed in the domain's root directory (and have the blog's home page be the same as the site's home page) or if the blog should be installed in a subdirectory or subdomain (and have a link to the blog from the domain's homepage--or from elsewhere on the site)

As far as SEO goes, it doesn't really matter much whether the site is in the root directory or a subdirectory. Installing it in a subdomain is a different matter, though. At Metapilot, we tell clients that as long as you have links pointing to the blog from other areas of the domain (and from other domains of value), the blog will most likely get crawled and indexed by search engines. If your blog posts are well focused on keywords and phrases, the posts can show up in at the top of the search results, provided the posts have enough links pointing at them from other web pages of quality.

There are plenty of examples of sites with blogs installed in the root directory and in subirectories, as well as in subdomains. If the whole reason for having the domain is to have a blog on it, then you have every reason install it in the root directory. If the blog is not to be the main focus of the domain but the blog's content is relevant to the main focus of the site but the information on it will be complementary to the rest of the site, why not install the blog in a subdirectory.

If the blog covers an entirely different topic than the primary purpose of the domain, install your blog on a subdomain. The search engines will treat the subdomain as an entirely different domain and though, from an SEO standpoint, it won't directly benefit from the authority and popularity of your top level domain, its presence won't confuse your visitors, either.

You really do not have to take a course of SEO in order to have a basic understanding of what SEO can do. Here's an article from Google which is self-explanatory:

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, "Who's my end user - is he on dialup or
DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one's goods and services.

And the very last category - "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google's spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.

Good luck!

It is important to know your keywords. If you have a product that you sell on your site, ask five friends what they might search for on google/yahoo to find it. Take those different keywords and optimize your page with them.
Also work on your meta tags. Here is an article on how they work: http://www.richkahmer.com/meta-tags.html

SEO Books will be outdated very quickly. Your best source is to first have an excellent understanding of web development, html, asp, design concepts and design standards.

You need to take online courses. These can be expensive from the top online schools but worth it in the end. You need to sign up fro the best feeds, ezines, forums that are online.

You need to be familiar with Google webmaster guidelines, ppc, link building, sem and social networking.

You have to know how to market yourself as a professional. You best bet is after training find a mentor who can guide you and teach you the ropes.

Learn how to search for what you are looking for as well. If you want to do SEO and SEM, then know how to find best information online. There are many and what I feel is best you may not based on your time, budgets and so on. So do some heavy research and reading as that will help you grow as well.
